Chukka one

With Knowle getting a half goal handicap start, Southfields needed to get a goal on the board quickly and this they did with Brook Bishop having two good runs and scoring two very quick goals in the first four minutes making the score two to a half for Southfields. With no further goals scored at the end of the chukka the score stood at Knowle ½ Southfields 2.

Chukka two

A penalty was given in the last thirty seconds of chukka one and thus chukka two commenced with a penalty for Knowle from the centre which was taken by Tom Lamacraft who skilfully took the ball up the pitch and, with a good under the neck shot, put the ball between the posts making the score Knowle 1.5 Southfields 2.Fom the roll in Tom Lamacraft again took the ball away with a fast run down the pitch and scored with a hefty shot making the score Knowle 2.5 Southfields 2. The two quick goals by Knowle woke Rod Stanning up and from the centre he had a good run and in spite of close riding off by Lottie, Rod converted another goal for Southfields making the score Knowle 2.5 Southfields 3. With both teams pushing the speed up neither could gain an advantage and the chukka finished with Knowle 2.5 Southfields 3

Chukka three

From the start of the chukka Knowle appeared to be under a bit more defensive pressure as Southfields peppered the goal with shots but a combination of steady backhands from Ed Courage and hard riding from Glenn Sheriff and Tom Lamacraft, Knowle managed to hold the attacks until Stanning found a chink in the armour and scored making the score Knowle 2.5 Southfields 4. With Knowle determined not to let any further goals their defence was very hard to break and as a result the umpires spotted a foul in the middle of a bunch up and a thirty yarder was awarded to Southfields and Brook Bishop did not miss and took the score to Knowle 2.5 Southfields 5. From the line up Rod Stanning took the ball up to the Knowle goal area and backhanded the ball to Brook Bishop who was in the right place at the right time and scored Southfields 6th goal to Knowles 2.5. The teams moved too and fro and then John Yeoman barged and pushed his way through a solid Knowle defensive wall to score Southfields 7th goal while Knowle lingered on 2.5. The chukka finished with the score Southfields 7 Knowle 2.5.

Chukka four

The chukka stared with a penalty hit from the centre to Knowle  taken by Glenn Sheriff who with clever stick work took the ball up the ground and when fouled was awarded a thirty yarder which he was unable to score from. With Knowle closing the hit in down very rapidly a melee formed and the whistles went and the umpires decided that a hit from the spot was in order for Knowle and Glenn Sheriff made sure the ball went between the posts and Knowle got their 3rd goal on the board to Southfields 7.Both teams unleashed some marvellous shots and a titanic battle unfolded for the crowd and in spite of some excellent shots Knowle could not get the ball between the posts with Southfields responding well to the continual Knowle attacks. In the last seconds before the final bell Brook Bishop struck again with a beautiful angled shot to take the ball through the posts making the final score Southfields 8 Knowle 3.5.
